At Hamburg Airport there is a central security check for both terminals, which is the responsibility of the federal police. The security checkpoint is located between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 on Level 1 of the Plaza. All passengers must go through security to get to the departure gates. Here, the federal police provides tips on how to get through the security check quickly and stress-free.
Please check on site whether access to the central security checkpoint via Terminal 2 is faster, even if you have checked in at Terminal 1. Especially during vacation periods, access via Terminal 2 is often less busy.
Service for Miles & More members from Lufthansa, Austrian, and SWISS:
The Star Alliance biometric facial recognition system gives you seamless access to the central security checkpoint (via the fast lanes in Terminals 1 and 2) and selected gates. A simple look at the camera is sufficient; your boarding pass can stay in your pocket. To use the service, register at least 24 hours before your flight with the Miles & More app or Lufthansa app. Data Protection Statement: Data Protection Statement for users of the Star Alliance Biometric Hub - Hamburg Airport (hamburg-airport.de)
From now on, passengers can find out what they are allowed to carry in their hand luggage at our new pre-sorting stations. We provide space to stow their liquids in transparent, resealable bags and to dispose of unauthorized items. This saves travelers time at the checkpoint.
Travelers with children can use our specially set up family lane!
Passengers wishing to export goods and valuables requiring declaration or large sums of cash from Germany can declare this at the Customs counter in Terminal 1 and apply for export certificates. Customs officers are also available to answer any questions you may have about customs.
