For a relaxed start to your trip, plan enough time for check-in and security and be at the airport around 2 hours before departure. Airlines usually open the check-in counters 2-3 hours before departure. Passengers should proceed quickly to the security check after check-in.
Many airlines offer online check-in. You'll receive a digital boarding pass that you can print or save to a mobile device. Then, on the day of departure, you won't have to go to the check-in counter at all. Alternatively, use the check-in machines in the terminals and print out your boarding pass at the airport. How to get through the security check quickly
We recommend that all passengers wishing to park their vehicle at Hamburg Airport reserve a parking space online in advance. This way you can travel stress-free, save time and benefit from our low online rates.
The airport is also well connected to the public transport network. The S-Bahn line S1 takes you from the main train station to the airport and back every 10 minutes and in just 25 minutes each way. The train station is located directly in Terminal 2, and many bus lines stop directly in front of the terminals.
